HISTORY OF LSAA
On September 25th, 1951, at 8:00 pm a group of 51 men and women met at the Hotel Northland in Marquette to plan for and discuss the idea of forming an art and craft association. (from the first minutes of the Lake Superior Creative Arts Association, later to become Lake Superior Arts Association).
After more than 60 years, LSAA continues to be a premier organization in the region which promotes and supports the visual arts throughout Marquette County. LSAA is a non profit organization. Proceeds from our annual art show, Art on the Rocks, are donated back to the community to support various art related activities and an art education scholarship at NMU.
