ARTPrize Sneek Peek: UP Arts Crossing the Straits –
Aug 20-Sept 9

ARTPrize seeks to advertise the bounty of UP artists, starting with this event on Mackinaw Island. UP Arts Crossing the Straits is sponsored by multiple organizations, including NMU’s school of Art & Design and is located at the Mission Point Resort’s Center for the Arts.

 2017 Holiday Art Sale – Nov 18, 10 am – 5 pm

Preparations for the 18th Annual Holiday Art Sale have begun and applications are now being accepted! APPLICATION: 2017 Annual Art Show Application
Applying artist will be notified of juried decision by Fri, Sept 17, 2017.

NEW LOCATION: We are excited to announce that the art sale will be held this year at the Marquette Regional History Center (MRHC). located on Spring and 3rd Street – 145 W Spring St, MarquetteAll applications/payments are to be directed to the MRHC.

SET-UP: Nov 17, 10 am – 5 pm

This change in venue is an effort to expand the event, attract new artists and new audiences. In addition, supporting a community gem with all proceeds from booth rentals and admission fees going directly to the MRHC, a private non-profit 501c3.

 New Venue Benefits Include:

The History Center is a destination, providing holiday shoppers even more reasons to attend. World class exhibits, an old-fashioned bake sale, cafe and other surprises will keep shoppers in the holiday spirit.

at Chocolay Bayou Nature Preserve (CBNP).

Join “Painters on the Loose”, as CBNP celebrates their first year! Some members will donate their finished pieces for the silent auction fundraiser.

Kathleen Conover – “Finishing: Order from Chaos” 

Bring those paintings you just can’t seem to pull together & get help from a master of composition. Learn how to assess what is and is not working. Kathleen’s painting process starts with Chaos & she shows us the techniques she uses to bring it to Order. She works with all students individually to ensure their personal style.
Fee: $275; $100 deposit required.

Oct 28, 7-8:30 pm: Halloween Spectacle

On Saturday, October 28, the City of Marquette and the Marquette Downtown Development Authority will host a large-scale community outdoor performance of giant puppetry, percussion and theatrical dance.  As the evening grows dark, the community is invited to join in the celebration on the 100 Block of W. Washington Street in Downtown Marquette.
