UPDATE: Peter White Public Library Renovation
The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center (MACC) galleries and workshop spaces will remain closed to the public during Library renovations. The City Arts and Culture Office has temporarily relocated to the Peter White Conference Room on the Library’s main floor. Renovations will not disrupt the Office ongoing initiatives and support services. Staff may be reached during regular business hours, Monday through Friday,
10 am-5 pm.
In addition, Senior Arts programs will continue during renovations at the Marquette Senior Center located at 300 W. Baraga Avenue. Senior Theater Experience programming, including Senior Acting, will also continue during the renovations.
Renovations that directly impact MACC space include improvements to atrium windows, sound proofing, and private entrances into workshop rooms. Changes will greatly improve disruptions between spaces, acoustics, privacy, and security. The new MACC office will be located adjacent to the LSAA Gallery.
One of the most exciting changes is the creation of a reception/gathering area between the Children’s Library, Community Room and MACC. Patrons will be drawn down the stairs by a welcoming space filled with comfortable chairs and beautiful art. The new space will provide a welcoming place to meet up with a friend before visiting the art gallery, a quiet moment while your child participates in a library program or a reception before a concert in the Community Room. The SmallWorks Gallery will be replaced by what promises to become a dynamic hub for all three spaces, showcasing the creative programming on the lower level.
Staff anticipate returning to the newly renovated MACC in November, with Creative Community programming starting back up on Monday, December 3.
