Susan Estler – Jewler (Enamels & Metalwork)

Susan Estler currently works as the Executive Director of Travel Marquette & resides in Marquette, Michigan on Lake Superior. She works in sterling silver, fine silver, copper, & brass since 2005 & has started incorporating enameled copper into her work in recent years. Found objects, precious stones, semi-precious stones, common stones, organic elements, personal items & natural themes are core to her designs. Most clasps, ear wires, & chains are designed & handcrafted to compliment the overall piece with attention to detail being a priority.

Susan attended Parson School of Design for Communication Design. She has been a member of Florida Society of Goldsmiths since 2007, SNAG, & the American Crafts Council since 2017. She also joined the Society of Midwest Metalsmiths, The Enamelist Society & the Enamel Guild North East in the last year. Joining these organizations has allowed her to take classes with John Cogswell, Anne Havel, Jayne Redman, & Jamie Bennett. These selfless instructors have been instrumental in furthering her metalsmithing & enameling skills.

I look for new ways to use papers in my work by recycling and repurposing colored papers of all kinds including my own watercolor or acrylic painted papers. I love textures and keep working to expand and add them into my work more often.
