The Marquette Downtown Development Authority is pleased to announce Liz Olli with her poster “Handmade in the U.P.” as the winner of 2017’s Blueberry Festival Poster Contest.
Thank you to all who entered this contest. The winning image will be produced on festival posters and merchandise, and the winning artist will receive $150 in gift certificates from downtown businesses, as well as 10 high-quality prints.

2018 17th Annual Blueberry Festival

DATE: JULY 27, 10 am – 7 pm: Marquette Blueberry Festival
LOCATION: Downtown Marquette, MI – West Washington and Front Streets

Washington and Front streets will be bustling with sidewalk sales, food vendors, artists, demonstrations, pony rides, inflatable arcade games, and activities for children and families.

Downtown restaurants will satisfy your cravings for blueberry fare, from blueberry pizza to blueberry beer, while many downtown shops offer will offer “blue” specials.

Local farmers will be on-hand throughout the day selling fresh produce, including mounds of plump blueberries and music fills the streets as live musicians perform throughout the day.

VENDOR APPLICATION

Vendor Application 2018

The Marquette Downtown Development Authority invites artisans, food vendors and nonprofit organizations to join the fun and set up a booth during the annual Blueberry Festival on Friday, July 27, in Marquette, MI. The application deadline is end of May 2018.

Due to limited available space, a cap has been set on the number of vendors allowed at the event and previous booth locations are not guaranteed. All applications will be subject to review and approved at the discretion of the Marquette Downtown Development Authority. Vendors will be notified of their approval in early June. Vendors not approved will have their registration fee refunded.

  • Vendors may request one or two (10’x10’) spaces for Blueberry Festival.
  • Booth sharing will not be permitted.
  • Vendors must provide their own tents, weights, tables, chairs and any other booth items needed.
  • These items will NOT be available at the time of set-up for the festival.
  • Tents must be weighted, as the festival is in close proximity to Lake Superior, where strong winds are frequent.
  • Please note: vendors MUST contain their booth within their one or two (10’x10′) spaces.
  • Vendors will NOT be able to utilize space outside of this area, such as the sidewalk or down the middle of the street/fire lane.
  • If you are concerned about being able to fit your booth within a 10’x10′ space, please consider requesting two spaces.
  • All retail items sold by vendors at the 2018 Blueberry Festival must be handmade, original items only.
  • No re-sale merchandise, kits or pre-manufactured items will be allowed.
  • Vendors will be required to submit one to three photos of the products they plan to sell at the 2018 Blueberry Festival with their application.

Businesses preparing food on-site must submit a copy of their health department license with application.  All food vendors utilizing heat or open flame within or near their tent will have their tent inspected by the Marquette Fire Chief. Tents MUST be non-flammable and should align with applicable fire codes.

 

DOWNTOWN BUSINESS REGISTRATION

Downtown Business Application 2018

The Marquette Downtown Development Authority invites businesses within the downtown district to join the fun and set up a booth during the annual Blueberry Festival on Friday, July 27, 2018 from 10 am – 7 pm. The deadline to apply will be end of May 2018.

  • Businesses may request one or two (10’x10’) spaces for Blueberry Festival.
  • Booth sharing will not be permitted.
  • Please note: businesses MUST contain their booth within their one or two (10’x10′) spaces.
  • Businesses will NOT be able to utilize space outside of their assigned area.
  • If you are concerned about being able to fit your booth within the assigned space, please consider requesting two spaces.
  • Businesses located inside the street closure areas (100 block of West Washington and 100 & 200 blocks of South Front) may use the area directly in front of their establishment, either on the sidewalk or out in the street, or offer sales/specials inside their store only.
  • Businesses located outside of the street closure areas may have a reserved booth space within the festival boundaries or offer sales/specials at their business location.
  • Note: If you are not using the street space in front of your business, a downtown district business from outside the closure area or an outside vendor may be placed there. Discretion is used in assigning outside vendor spaces in front of downtown businesses.

Blueberry Festival

Event Date: Friday, July 28, 2017

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Location: West Washington and Front Streets 

The Marquette Downtown Development Authority invites residents of all ages and skill levels to submit original artwork for the 2017 Blueberry Festival Poster contest. The selected design will be reproduced as a full-color, limited edition poster. Original artwork in any medium is welcome but should not be larger than 11 x 17 inches and must not have been previously reproduced. New this year, no lettering or text will be allowed on the artwork, except for the artist’s signature, which should be no more than 1″ x 3″ in size.

The winning entry will be determined by a combined score based on an online vote open to the public and a panel of judges comprised of local artists, downtown business owners and public officials. Voting will take place Monday, May 8, through Friday, May 26, at www.downtownmarquette.org. All entries will be on display at the Marquette Arts & Culture Center, 217 North Front Street, throughout that time period for those who would like to view and vote for the artwork in person. In exchange for the rights to the selected artwork, the winner will receive $150 in gift certificates from downtown businesses and 10 posters. The winning poster will debut prior to the festival, which is scheduled for Friday, July 28.

The entry deadline is Monday, May 1. There are two ways to enter:

  1. Complete the online submission form at downtownmarquette.org/blueberry-festival AND mail or drop off your original artwork at the Marquette Downtown Development Authority office (203 S. Front St. Suite 1-B, Marquette, MI 49855) before Friday, May 6. Online submissions received without original artwork will not be considered.
  2. Submit a paper application with original artwork by mail or drop off your original artwork at the Marquette Downtown Development Authority office (203 S. Front St. Suite 1-B, Marquette, MI 49855) before Friday, May 6. Applications can be downloaded here (Blueberry Festival Poster Contest Application 2017) or picked up from the Marquette DDA office.
